Things to Keep in Mind When Using a Multilingual Database

  • It is most beneficial as a language learner to read your information sources in English
  • If the level of writing is too difficult, read the article in both English and your language of choice
  • Be aware that some translations may not be accurate
  • Note that the number of languages other than English is limited

6 Critical Thinking Questions For Any Situation

1. What’s happening?

Once you read and comprehend something, start asking questions!

2. Why is it important?

Is it, or is it not important? 

Who is it important for?  

3. What don’t I see?

Is there any important information or another perspective missing?

4. How do I know?

What is the source of your information on the subject? 

How did you come to know what you know?

5. Who is saying it?

Who or what is the source of the information? 

Who is the author or speaker?

What might influence their thinking or point of view?

6. What else? What if?

Is there anything else that should be considered? 

If so, how does it change your results?
