Reference Assistance

The Reference Desk is located just inside the library's entrance, 

Reference staff are always available to provide assistance during the library's hours, . We can help you with any questions about using the library and its resources.  If you're new to the library, please stop by the Reference Desk and we can help you get started or answer any questions you may have.

Public computers provide access to the library's resources.  The stand up computers can be used for 10 minute incriments, just enter your student id number to access.  To use the sit down computers please sign in at the reference or circulation desk.

Electronic Resources

Library's online catalog - Find books available at the four peralta district libraries, Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney, and Merritt,.

Databases - Use these to find articles, books, images and more. 

The Reference Desk staff can assist you in using these electronic resources. We will show you how to locate and retrieve specific items from the collections.  Please let us know if you have any questions. 

Computer printouts are 10 cents per page.  To use the printers in the library you need a print card which can be purchased on the 1st floor between the two stairs right across from the water fountains.

The Library's Mission

The primary mission of the Berkeley City College Library is to promote student success and equity by providing access to space and resources needed to complete studies and supporting the curriculum and information needs of the diverse Berkeley City College community.  This mission is met by providing physical and remote access to quality diverse print, electronic, and multimedia resources, services, and instruction.  Consistent with the mission and institutional outcomes of Berkeley City College, the library faculty and staff strive to promote information competency, critical thinking, life long learning, and academic success.  They do so by making available to Berkeley City College students faculty and staff the resources needed to conduct research related to their curriculum and endeavors and by promoting the information competency skills needed to successfully retrieve information through instructional support.
