OER and Physics.
During spring 2022 the Open Educational Resources Initiative will convene weekly OER Webinars will be on Fridays from 10:30 – 11:30 am. All weekly webinars will be archived. The ASCCC OERI will provide automated captioning for all webinars.
A great working definition of OER can be found on the Hewlett Foundation website. This foundation has been instrumental in the development of today's OER movement. The Hewlett Foundation defines OER simply:
"Open Educational Resources are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and repurposing by other. OER include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming video, texts, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge."
There are five widely accepted notions about the culture of Open Educational Resources. These are:
